My Rating: Five Captivating Stars*****
Oh my! I love this book! I adore paranormal romance and completely infatuated with dragon shifters so when I get both in one great read, I'm in heaven! And no one does it better than Zoe Chant! I've been a diehard fan for several years and can truthfully say, I've never read a single one of her books I didn't enjoy. I know before I read the first line that I'm guaranteed a wonderful adventure and Firefighter Dragon was no exception! Once I started reading, I could not stop. I was riveted to my seat, white knuckling my ereader with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the hours flew as quickly as the pages... and it was FABULOUS! When Zoe Chant puts pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard in this modern day world of technology), it's nothing short of magical. Chant is an incredibly gifted storyteller, talented wordsmith, and true master of her trade. She excels at creating unique storylines with vividly depicted worlds and beautifully detailed descriptions, then populating her creations with intriguing, larger-than-life characters who will surely capture your imagination along with your heart. I'm not a professional reviewer but I am a retired English/Literature teacher who tends to be quite selective of the authors I choose to follow, and can truthfully say, if you've never read a Zoe Chant book, you've missed a real treat! If you enjoy well-written paranormal/fantasy/supernatural romance, then I'm confident you'll love her books as much as I do. But let's talk details so you'll understand why I love this story so much.
Firefighter Dragon is an imaginative, fast-paced, easy-to-follow, novella-length (approximately 120 pages), standalone paranormal romance liberally laced with elements of fantasy. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is smart, well-executed, at times hilarious, and flows effortlessly. It is exceptionally well-crafted, developed and edited as are all of Chant's books. I also feel compelled to mention, Chant's books have beautiful covers and artwork which always seem to capture the spirit of the story and its characters, and I truly love that about her work. But I think my favorite component of every Chant story is the characters she creates to populate her fascinating worlds. They are captivating, intriguing, engaging, and no matter how fantastical their alter form may be, whether it be shifter or creature of myth and legend, they are still relatable to the reader with the same challenges and heartaches we experience in our daily lives. I was immediately smitten with the two protagonists of this story, beautiful American archaeologist Virginia James, and handsome Welsh dragon shifter and firefighter for the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service Daifydd 'Dai' Drake. Dai and Virginia are absolutely adorable together and complement each other brilliantly. Their attraction is immediate, their passion undeniable, their interaction enthralling, and their sexual chemistry is smokin' hot! Pun intended! Read the book and you'll understand what I mean! Let's just say things do get a little heated! lol... I snickered, snorted, giggled and sniffled through the entire book but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, and well entertained. Firefighter Dragon is the first release in the Fire and Rescue Shifters Series and sets the stage for the entire series. We're introduced to a wonderfully diverse cast of fascinating characters, some of whom will have their own books in the future. I know this because there are currently three more books available in the series: Firefighter Pegasus (Book Two), Firefighter Griffin (Book Three), and Firefighter Sea Dragon (Book Four). In fact, I loved this book so much, I raced back to Amazon to purchase the remaining three. I can hardly wait to dive in! Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! In fact, I loved it so much, I bought it. Please allow me to explain. I have Kindle Unlimited so I could have read this story for free by borrowing it through Amazon but customers aren't allowed to keep the books you 'borrow'. They have to be returned and after reading the first few chapters, I knew this was a book I wanted as part of my permanent library so I could read it again. Good books get even better when you read them for the second or third time. Maybe it's just me, but I always seem to find things I missed during my first read. Chant's books are all enrolled in the KU program but I still find myself buying them all. What can I say? Yes, they're that good and I always feel like I get my money's worth! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does include some steamy, dreamy love scenes. If you love unique well-crafted paranormal stories filled to the brim with danger, drama, action, adventure, lies, deceit, betrayal, angst, heartache, passion, romance and always a happy ending, then Firefighter Dragon is calling your name! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! I can hardly wait to dive into Book Two, Firefighter Pegasus! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Beautiful, curvy, American archaeologist Virgina James has staked everything, including her professional reputation, on her findings that the lost burial mound of the ancient Anglo-Saxon king Brithelm is located near the southern coast of England. After four years of research, two trips to Europe, three preliminary papers, one nearly exhausted grant, and three exhausting months spent examining every square inch of the hills surrounding Brighton, Virginia is finally close to discovering the location ... and her latest find, the jewel encrusted gold nose guard from an ancient helmet, is indisputable proof her theory is correct. Unfortunately, Virginia had no way of knowing that unearthing the precious artifact would also summon a malevolent dragon who will stop at nothing to add the discovery to his hoard. Wait... What? Dragon??? Dragons aren't real, right? Yes, apparently, they are and it seems there's more than one. But after almost being burned to death by an evil white dragon whose greed proves to be stronger than his morality, Virginia is convinced all dragons are bad, very, very bad. So what's a beautiful archaeologist to do when she discovers her handsome rescuer Dai Drake is also a dragon and not a dragon hunter as he claims... and that she's his mate?!? Huh? Oh no! Is Dai just blowing smoke to get his hands on Virginia's treasure, including her rich curves!? We'll see!

Firefighter Dragon Fire Rescue Shifters Book 1 edition by Zoe Chant Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
This is the first book in the Fire & Rescue Shifters series, I loved this story and enjoyed reading it again, it is a great start to a new series. The East Sussex Fire & Rescue Alpha Team consists of a red dragon, a pegasus, a griffin, a sea dragon and a mystery shifter. This team gets all the shifter 911 calls.
Virginia Jones is an archaeologist who has broken into a construction site to try and save a historical site. She hits pay dirt and also gets caught by the owner the want the treasure back. She is chased by a white dragon who sets her hiding place on fire. 999 what is you emergency?
Daifydd Drake is the red dragon shifter on the team. He gets the mind call from Griff to check out the report of fire by a dragon. He encounters the white dragon, who he pushes aside to save the victim inside. The victim turns out to be his mate.
Who is the white dragon? Will they be able to catch him in the act of using dragon fire? What will his punishment be? Will Virginia trust another dragon again? I give this story 5 stars.
This was a quick, fun read. I enjoy shifter stories. But some of them have way too much sexual content. This had a couple of sections that were more than I usually like but I was able to skim through them and get to the next section. Zoe crafted a very nice story with some humorous secitons that had me laughing out loud at Virginia and Dai. What also interested me was the fire crew who was composed of different shifters, one whose "talent" is unknown other than he's a healer. Plus the game of who has more hoard was a different take on dragon stories. I realize some reviewers didn't like how Virginia and Dai kept waffling back and forth but that's part of what I enjoy in this type of story. I can see how they would feel and react as they do. I'm looking forward to the next book. I hope to find out what Hugh's shifter specialty is.
I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the stories of the other members of Dai's firefighting team. Daifydd Drake is a Welsh red dragon and Virginia Jones is an archaeologist and Dai's mate. We have a new world (the queen of England is a dragon!) where the paranormals are not really "out" but they are among the humans.Virginia sort of digs where she shouldn't and a white dragon who is also an archaeologist named Bertram - and who lines his hoard with antiquities - realizes that she has unearthed a great treasure. So Virginia is introduced to dragons by being pursued by the white dragon who wants her find, causes her to crash her car and traps her in a barn that he sets on fire. The fire crew comes to the rescue, Dai finds and eventually wins his mate and the bad dragon gets his comeuppance. The fire crew has a black pegasus, a sea dragon and several other rather unusual people with unique personalities and talents that I can hardly wait to read about. HEA of course.
